What you need to know...
What are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are the very basic cell of the body that has the potential to replicate and become any tissue the body directs it to become. Stem cells can become cartilage, tendon, ligament, muscle etc…
What kind of Stem Cells are used?

The Stem Cells we use are from Fior Bioscience (https://fiorbio.com). Mesenchymal stem cells are derived from the placenta and umbilical cord of healthy C-sections here in Utah.
Are Stem Cells safe?

Mesenchymal Stem Cells are very safe. The mother’s have been through a thorough screening process prior to C-section delivery. Stem Cell harvesting and treatments are FDA regulated.
What can be treated with Stem Cells?

At Optimal Health Family Practice we use Stem Cells to treat painful joints that may be inflamed from arthritis, injury or otherwise. This includes large joints such as shoulders and knees or smaller joints such as wrists, ankles, fingers and toes.
How many injections does it take and what is the down time?

Generally it only takes 1 injection per joint. Improvement is very individualized, but may be experienced within 24 hours - 2 weeks. Significant improvement is most often experienced at 4-6 months after injection, when repair and tissue regeneration has taken place. Treatment areas very rarely need to be reinjected.
There is no down time after the procedure. It is recommended you still go about your normal daily activities. There may be some restrictions for a few weeks; the provider will review with you at your evaluation
How long does it last?

Improvement in symptoms experienced within 6 months of treatment should last indefinitely unless there is an injury or continued excessive wear and tear of the joint.
